Holistic Learning System (HLS)
Why is it called
"Holistic" Learning System?
There are three primary reasons we have titled this
instructional system design Holistic:
-
The wide
variety of instructional methods and learning
assessment tools used;
-
The multitude
of perspectives and subtopics addressed for each
category of subject matter; and
-
The extent
(time period, repetition, and number of learning
activities) to which each topic is covered
Learning Assessments
We use learning assessments to provide feedback
to the participant and to facilitate improvements to
our learning system. They are designed to follow
Learning Assignments.
What if - Mind Drills
As part of
the course, we take what you are being taught and
put you in real life situations. Results are
recorded and stored so you can be properly mentored
in the your area of study. |

HLS has been web enabled for the
following reasons:
-
Accessibility:24 hours
a day – every day of the year, and around the
world;
-
Continuous or Ongoing
Education: An HLS can be designed for many
months of learning;
-
Linkable: Numerous
websites are available with ‘some’ good
information, so why reinvent the entire wheel?
-
Complementary: A web
coordinated can be designed to complement
classes attended, books read, and experiences
had. Therefore, it will enhance all learning;
-
Flexible: A HLS system
can be designed to focus on experiential
activities or to include a lot of audio
presentations; a system can be designed in
conjunction with a notebook workbook or without;
a HLS can be used to educate adults and youth, K
through 12; and so on;
-
Trackable: Can measure
time spent on the system, number and frequency
of system use, and quiz/test performance; among
other items. And, it’s easy to administer (e.g.
Teachers); and
-
Ease of Updating:
A web system can easily be updated without
having to redo and reprint the entire
publication. Therefore, it can be kept up to
date and interesting.
